Seven-day planning
A relaxed Croatia itinerary for large families
A realistic seven-day family itinerary from Kaštela with Split, Trogir, beaches, one optional boat day and enough time at the private villa.A good group itinerary leaves space for weather, traffic and different energy levels. This seven-day outline uses Villa Rocco as the base and deliberately avoids scheduling a major excursion every day.
Days 1–3: arrive, Trogir, then pause
- Day 1: groceries, room allocation, pool and an easy dinner at the villa.
- Day 2: relaxed morning, Trogir in the late afternoon and dinner near the waterfront.
- Day 3: no fixed excursion; use the pool, local coast and outdoor dining.
Days 4–5: Split and a beach
- Day 4: Split Old Town, Riva and an optional Marjan viewpoint; avoid the hottest hours with small children.
- Day 5: choose a beach by the group's needs rather than reputation: local for simplicity, Marjan for Split, or Čiovo for a Trogir-side day.
Days 6–7: one bigger choice, one soft landing
Use day 6 for one larger plan: a reputable boat excursion, Klis and inland sights, or another island or beach day. Check weather, cancellation terms and travel times before committing the whole group.
Keep day 7 light. A final pool morning, packing in stages and dinner at the villa is usually better than returning exhausted before departure.
Questions before you book
Should we book a boat trip before arrival?
Compare operators, weather policies, departure point and suitability for children. In high season, reputable trips may sell out, but avoid booking before the group agrees on the conditions.
How many cars does a large family need?
That depends on child seats and luggage. Send your vehicle count before arrival so parking and transfers can be discussed.
What should remain flexible?
Keep at least one full day and one half-day open for weather, tired children or simply enjoying the villa.
