Family accommodation checklist

Where to stay near Split with children

A practical checklist for choosing family accommodation near Split: pool safety, separate rooms, kitchens, airport access, beaches and quieter nights.

The best family base is not automatically the closest address to Split Old Town. With children, bedroom layout, shade, food routines, pool supervision and simple arrival logistics often matter more than saving a few kilometres.

Check the accommodation, not only the map

  • Enough real bedrooms for adults and children to sleep comfortably.
  • Bathrooms and kitchens that match the size of the group.
  • A clear pool-safety setup and active adult supervision.
  • Outdoor space where children can move without leaving the property.
  • Written information about check-in, guest registration and house rules.

Why Kaštela can work better than central Split

Kaštela places families between Split and Trogir and closer to Split Airport than many city-centre options. It allows city visits without making the old town the setting for every breakfast, nap and bedtime.

The trade-off is that a car, taxi or ride-hailing is usually part of the plan. For a large family, that can still be easier than finding several central apartments near one another.

How Villa Rocco fits the checklist

Villa Rocco offers seven bedrooms, six bathrooms, three kitchens, a small playground, a media room and a private heated saltwater pool. The main house and bungalow help several families create separate routines while sharing the same property.

The pool enclosure is useful but is not a substitute for adult supervision. Parents remain responsible for children around the pool, stairs, balconies and equipment.

Questions before you book

Is staying outside Split inconvenient?

Not necessarily. It trades a city-centre walk for more private space, easier group living and access to both Split and Trogir.

What matters most with toddlers?

Safe sleeping arrangements, shade, direct supervision near water and realistic travel times around naps and heat.

Can child equipment be requested?

Ask before booking with children's ages and specific needs so the hosts can confirm what is available rather than assuming.
